High Energy Consulting uses a variety of methods to secure the voice of the customer and to provide your with the strong evidence of customer demand that is so essential for the business case. We perform quantitative research, creating structured phone, web and mail surveys. We also do qualitative research, and can facilitate focus groups with up to a dozen participants. We have significant experience in observing customers and interviewing them in their work environments, to test candidate value propositions and understand the contextual use for a variety of products and services. We are skilled at drawing the explicit needs out of the prospective customers and assisting them with the articulation of their needs in a way that a product development team would find to be valuable. More importantly, we can capture the latent needs, those customer needs that are not stated explicitly, but which can be inferred through observation of the contextual use of products and services in the customer's environment.

Lastly, we know how to find innovation that has already happened in the marketplace, through a combination of techniques analyzing competitive activity, patent searches, and initiatives by end users who are motivated to solve problems on their own, without waiting for a product or service provider to bring them the solutions. This information is critical for new product development, as most innovation is evolutionary and many benefit sets have been tried before--in some context or in some corner of the globe that you may not have yet considered.
